Midtown Showroom and Gallery
This studio and gallery in Midtown Manhattan is an exercise in both versatility and functionality. Although primarily a place to meet with clients and consultants, the space also serves as a showroom for contemporary art installations. An efficient workspace, it functions equally well as a comfortable social environment and an elegant gallery for displaying our work and that of local mid-career artists.
The studio’s multifunction design allows a small design staff to work with a roster of independent experts who are brought on to meet any given project’s specific demands. This flexible space accommodates as many team members as required at any moment.
NMA carried out a full gut renovation of the space, stripping the walls to expose the interior brick, refurbishing the wood floors, and restoring the original tin ceiling. Custom millwork desks and shelves of our design line the walls and help shape the interior of the studio workspace. Workstations also function as art displays. The desks can be converted to conceal computer equipment and store work materials during gallery exhibitions.
Anchoring the main space is the prototype for our teak Multi Storage Unit, which incorporates wide drawers for drawings, planters for seasonal plants, and cushions for seating. The conference room to the rear centers on a custom table with a glass top in cobalt blue. Above it hangs a custom block-and-tackle lighting fixture, also of our design.
