West Village Garden Terrace Apartment
A collaboration of NMA with landscape architect Edmond Hollander, this Manhattan apartment renovation pairs a serenely refined interior with an expansive outdoor retreat in a tandem design that enriches both environments. NMA’s work embraces the “white box” theme of the existing interior, retaining its light-colored walls and whitewashed wood flooring while introducing warmth and character with a curated selection of furniture, textiles, artwork, and lighting. Antique rugs add color to every room and subtly define function areas in the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space. Oversize windows and doors open onto the multilevel terrace, a lush, green gardenscape with broad views of the Hudson River beyond. The terrace is furnished as a sequence of outdoor “rooms,” with relaxed seating arrangements, an understated teak dining set, and a stainless steel grill with a galaxy schist stone countertop.
