Eco-Friendly Salon and Spa

NMA designed this salon and spa prototype for Aveda, an environmentally focused cosmetics company, specifying only materials certified by the Cradle to Cradle Innovation Institute as fully sustainable throughout their lifecycle. The building’s exterior walls employ Polli-Brick, a system of interlocking units made from recycled polyethylene bottles. Photovoltaic etched glass windows light the interior while also generating electricity. Green-wall systems make living vegetation an integral part of the interior design. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems optimized for efficiency minimize energy use and carbon emissions.
