About the Girl’s Club:

The Lower Eastside Girls Club provides a place where girls and young women 8–23 can grow, learn, have fun, and develop confidence in themselves and their ability to make a difference in the world. Through their programs, including strong arts programs, they provide girls with the vision to plan—and the tools to build—their future.

The MIMA clients have asked NMA to help design their home in a remote part of Western Massachusetts. NMA will be working with local carpenters and artisans to design a beautifully crafted and contemporary kitchen, as well as a bath house addition.

NMA has been asked by a large cosmetics and perfume company to design a prototype for a new environmentally friendly salon and spa. The company considers it their mission to promote sustainability in their business. NMA is using eco-friendly materials to create an environment that is both luxurious and chic. The staff has been hard at work on drawings and the design is nearing completion.

Nicole’s latest project has been designing a living area for a residence in Cobble Hill.

Both the clients and NMA are inspired by Japanese culture, and this space emulates the simplicity and creativity of Eastern design. Sliding panels move to section off a portion of the room. The new space is intended as a guest room for visitors and a play area for their child. This NMA design is a flexible space thats blends function with modern aesthetics.

As the last corner is turned in the St. Dominic’s Hospital Medical Spa project, we here at NMA are very excited to see the final product! Letting alone the fact that the weather in Jackson, Mississippi would be a welcome change to the brutally cold New York winter, visiting the completed site will be the gratifying end of a road that has had many twists and turns. The project is one of the first medical spas to be opened by a private hospital, hence recognizing the value of preventative medicine. This exciting project utilizes state of the art spa equipment and includes an eco-friendly green roof. As our last step, we are busy picking furniture and finishes for the space and look forward to seeing the completed project in the near future.

Nicole M. and Ethan have been busy preparing for an opening on November 6th. Acclaimed filmmaker and artist Bill Morrison is showing his new film, “Release,” in the NMA Gallery. “Release” uses archival footage of crowds gathering outside the Eastern State Penitentiary for the release of Al Capone. The installation is accompanied by music of NYC composer and bandleader Vijay Iyer. It should be another fun event with friends and clients in attendance!

The team at NMA has finished designing a residence in Greenwich Village for a well-known television personality and an acclaimed photographer/artist. The design seeks to incorporate both modern and rustic elements in an urban setting. Thanks to excellent collaboration between all parties, the design came out fantastic and the project goes into construction later in October. We are excited to see it complete!

Nicole recently hosted the reunion for Roland Park Country Day School, her high school, in the NMA gallery space. New York-based RPCS alumni of all ages came to celebrate and catch up with the school’s headmistress.  Work was shown by photographer Willy Somma and the event was catered by Meredith, a fellow RPCS alum.
